Hospital Adopts Surgery Planning Tool

George Washington University Hospital in Washington, D.C., will implement orthopedic surgery planning software from Orthocrat Ltd., Columbia, Md.

Integrated with an organization's picture archiving and communication system, the TraumaCad software enables the manipulation of medical images and includes a library of prosthetic templates. The application can assist in planning joint replacement, deformity correction and trauma surgery, among other procedures.

"We don't expect to be passive users of this software," says Andrew Holmes, M.D., associate professor of orthopaedic surgery. "We expect to push the envelope while providing a steady stream of ideas for improving this product."
