The HIE platform will include the vendor’s Rhapsody integration engine, as well as a clinical data repository and clinician portal. The goal is to provide a universal health record for patients served by Catholic Health Initiative’s 76 hospitals, 40 long-term and assisted care facilities, community clinics and home health agencies in 19 states.
The organization generates more than 400,000 hospital admissions and about five million physician visits annually. Catholic Health Initiatives also will link to state HIEs and the Nationwide Health Information Network. It expects HIE implementation to be finished by June 2015.
