ONC to Explain EHR Certification Rule

The Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology on March 25 will host a Web seminar to discuss the notice of proposed rulemaking that would establish temporary and permanent programs to certify electronic health records systems.

The Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology on March 25 will host a Web seminar to discuss the notice of proposed rulemaking that would establish temporary and permanent programs to certify electronic health records systems.

The seminar will focus on provisions of the proposed rule that would enable providers to adopt products that meet the definition of "Certified EHR Technology." Because the proposed rule is in the comment period phase, the seminar "will be solely informational and seeks to help listeners better understand the proposals included in the NPRM," according to ONC. The comment period for the temporary certification program ends on April 9; comment on the permanent program ends on May 10.

There is limited space for the seminar and ONC will post a transcript on its Web site by March 29. The one-hour seminar will start at 4 p.m. Eastern Time on March 25. The dial-in number is 1-888-673-9805, and the participant passcode is 9033671. The Web address is https://www107.livemeeting.com/cc/dt/webJoin?id=9CS6RH&pw=5z}BQR5&role=attend.
