ONC Looking for New Workgroup Members

The Office of the National Coordinator for Health IT is accepting applications for the HIT Policy Committee and Standards Committee Workgroups. ONC is on a fast-track to get nominees with a June 6 deadline for submitting an application here.
The workgroups, which help identify health IT standards, implementation and certification criteria, "typically meet virtually twice a month for at least three hours per month to deliberate and make recommendations to their respective advisory committees," according to a May 29 blog posting from ONC.
Last month, National Coordinator for Health IT Karen DeSalvo, M.D., called for a restructuring of the HIT Policy Committee's workgroups. The plan includes fewer workgroups but an expansion of their respective scopes.
"This effort is aimed at ensuring the work of the committees guide and aligns with ONCs strategic direction and policy priorities into the next decade," states the ONC blog. "It also serves as an opportunity to support collaboration across the committees and to build on the workgroups diverse membership. We are looking for new members that represent important perspectives and areas of expertise and add to the discussions by engaging in strategic, innovative thinking."
The HITPC workgroups include: HIT strategy; HIT implementation, usability, and safety; interoperability and health information exchange; advanced health models and meaningful use; privacy and security; and consumer perspective and engagement. The HITSC workgroups are: steering committee; semantic standards; content standards; transport and security; architecture, services, and application program interfaces; and implementation, certification, and testing.
