NextGen Healthcare Information Systems has acquired electronic data interchange vendor ViaTrack Systems LLC for an undisclosed sum.
Horsham, Pa.-based NextGen is a major vendor of information systems for physician practices and in recent years has moved into the inpatient arena. ViaTrack's technology supports electronic claims submission, real-time eligibility verification, electronic remittance advice management and analysis of HIPAA transactions.
ViaTrack has been an EDI partner of NextGen to serve hospitals. NextGen in a statement to Health Data Management says the acquisition "provides NextGen additional technological capabilities that will specifically expand our EDI services for inpatient providers. It will be part of our claims services for hospitals."
The company declined to specify what the acquisition brings that NextGen didn't already have, but noted that because ViaTrack already was a partner, "this is not brand new to our overall offering."
