The National Quality Forum has endorsed 12 new quality measures on renal care, 14 measures on perinatal care, and four additional measures on health care resource use and costs.

The resource measures target costs associated with asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, hip/knee replacement and pneumonia.

The forum also has released a new tool to align measurements from various quality programs at local, state and national levels. The Community Tool to Align Measurement aids in comparing measures used in particular programs, identifying measurement gaps with the greatest value, identifying measures for possible alignment to ease reporting, and positioning initiatives for incentive payment.

The new endorsed quality measures are detailed in three press releases issued April 2 and available here. Information on the alignment tool is here.
