SCI Solutions, which sells a suite of applications to automate communications between hospitals and referring physicians, has named industry veteran Joel French as a managing partner and CEO.

Founder John Holton will continue with the company as a managing partner and COO. The appointment of French coincides with the securing of an undisclosed amount of funding from The Wicks Group of Companies and New Enterprise Associates.

Campbell, Calif.-based SCI's Order Facilitator product captures orders for scheduled or unscheduled outpatient services via a Web site, integration with electronic health records systems, or an inbound fax. Other applications support Web-based scheduling across facilities, patient arrival kiosks, consumer and provider portals, automated pre-authorization, referral and medical necessity checking transactions before a patient arrives at the hospital.

French most recently served as vice president and general manager in the health care unit of Motion Computing Inc. He previously was founder and CEO of consulting firm Nephalios Group, vice president at Superior Consulting before its acquisition by Affiliated Computer Services, and also served with customer software developer Sentient Systems before Daou Systems acquired it.
