Health information technology research firm IDC Health Insights has published new two reports examining health information exchange technologies.

The first report, Health Information Exchange Packaged Solutions 2012 Vendor Assessment, covers pre-configured modular software such as integration engines, portals and secure messaging. It profiles 10 vendors: Caradigm (GE Healthcare/Microsoft joint venture), Carefx, Certify Data Systems, eClinicalWorks, Infor, Informatics Corporation of America, Medecision, Medicity, MobileMD (Siemens) and PatientKeeper.

The second report, U.S. Health Information Exchange Platform Solutions 2012 Vendor Assessment, covers all-in-one HIE platforms that include multiple modules, development tools, published application programming interfaces, education for technical staff and professional services. The report profiles 16 vendors: AT&T, AxSys Technology, Caradigm, Carefx, Certify Data Systems, Covisint, dbMotion, IBM, Infor, InterSystems, Medicity, OptumInsight (Axolotl), Oracle, Orion Health, RelayHealth and Verizon.

The reports also cover vendor mergers and acquisitions, electronic health records connectivity solutions, and HIE vendors with certified products, among other topics.
