New Hospital Picks Prognosis for EHR

Westbury Hospital in Houston, a new 137-bed acute care facility, will implement electronic health records from Prognosis Health Information Systems, also in Houston.

Westbury Hospital in Houston, a new 137-bed acute care facility, will implement electronic health records from Prognosis Health Information Systems, also in Houston.

The hospital expects to complete rollout of the system in three months. The vendor's ChartAccess system has screens that mimic e-mail interfaces to speed the learning curve and adoption processes, according to the vendor. The system also enables access to the system to view and process orders via iPhones.

The system will compel physicians to comply with meaningful use requirements by providing a "hard stop" to prompt a user to properly document before continuing to other functions, says hospital CEO Roger Glass.
