Netsmart Technologies, a vendor of practice management, administrative and electronic health records for health and human services organizations, is expanding its portfolio with an acquisition.

The Great River, NY.-based company has acquired Sequest Technologies, Lisle, Ill., for an undisclosed sum. Sequest sells practice management and electronic records software to children and family service agencies, as well as substance abuse treatment facilities.

The EHRs of both vendors are certified as supporting Stage 1 of meaningful use criteria. In addition to a broader technology and client base, the acquisition will help providers better coordinate care, and aid Netsmart in developing a national clinical and operational benchmarking service, according to the vendor.

William Conners, president and CEO at Sequest, will become a senior vice president at Netsmart and general manager of the children and family services and substance abuse business unit.
