The National Committee for Quality Assurance has published HEDIS 2013 technical specifications for accountable care organizations.

The specs give guidance to help ACOs collect and report quality performance in standard formats for 35 measures that will enable apples-to-apples comparisons, according to NCQA.

Specifications cover such issues as defining populations for ACO measurement, following appropriate sampling and data collection methods, performing necessary calculations, and reporting ACO performance to NCQA. The specifications will help NCQA create performance benchmarks and track ACO improvement over time.

The specifications, with costs ranging from $245 for a single user to $2,940 for 11-20 users, are available here.
