Atlanta-based Iconic Data has introduced a mobile application enabling physicians doing hospital rounds to submit patient diagnosis and billing information to their home office.

The app, called SwiftPayMD, enables a physician to dictate patient information and billing codes which are converted to a text file, attach relevant images such as a patient wristband, then transmit the information to a secure cloud-based database. Billing personnel at the physician office can then access the file.

In essence, the app creates a digital superbill during an encounter at the hospital. The cost is $99 per physician per month. The app supports Apple mobile devices and the company expects to release an Android version during the third quarter of 2012.
