The Minnesota Health Information Exchange will offer on its provider portal the Rcopia electronic prescribing software of DrFirst Inc., Rockville, Md.
The portal will enable prescribers to view a patient's medication, laboratory and immunization history before creating an electronic prescription. Providing access to the software via the statewide HIE will enable physicians to meet a state mandate for e-prescribing by Jan. 1, 2011, as well as supporting expected meaningful use criteria for e-prescribing. The prescriptions will transmit to pharmacies via the national e-prescribing network of Alexandria, Va.-based Surescripts.
The Minnesota HIE's directory holds information on more than 4.2 million residents. More information is available at mnhie.org and drfirst.com.
