The schedule for keynote speakers at the MGMA 2013 Annual Conference, Oct. 6-9 in San Diego, has a distinct self-help flavor with one very timely exception: political columnist George Will.

With a federal government shutdown recently over or still going, Will takes the stage at 8:00 a.m. on Oct. 7 to give a glimpse into what’s going on in Washington, including implementation of the Affordable Care Act.

On October 6, John Foley, a former lead pilot in the Blue Angels, opens the conference at 3:00 p.m. The founder of CenterPoint Companies, which offers training on achieving a high level of performance, Foley will walk through the principles and practices of aligning objectives for a team and organization.

Sam Silverstein, author of No More Excuses, will talk about making organizations more successful by eliminating excuses and justifications, and taking personal accountability for decisions and results. His keynote is scheduled at 8:00 a.m. on Oct. 8.

Speaker and author Sally Hogshead starts early on Oct. 9 at 7:30 a.m., focusing on how to apply personality strengths to increase personal and professional potential. She developed and will explain the “Fascination Advantage,” a scientific method for personal brand measurement.
