Lenexa, Kan.-based Mediware sells medication, blood bank management and home health software. More than 60,000 adult stem cell transplantations were performed worldwide in 2009 and more than 3,600 stem cell clinical trials are now in progress, says Thomas Mann, CEO at Mediware.

St. Louis-based Transtem’s software manages such functions as collection, processing, transplantation, post-transplantation monitoring and reporting of patient outcomes. “By acquiring Transtem’s products and expertise, we have the opportunity to take a leadership role in an emerging area of health care as well as bring innovative new capabilities to our large base of hospitals, academic research centers and specialty outpatient providers,” Mann says.

Transtem’s software is used internationally, including in the United Kingdom where Mediware has a sizable market presence. More information is available at transtem.com.
