Medication Vendor to Link to Eclipsys

Montgomery, Ala.-based Health Care Systems Inc. will integrate its medication reconciliation application on the Helios open platform of Eclipsys Corp., Atlanta.

The platform is designed to enable Eclipsys clients to avoid costly interfaces to third-party software. For instance, integrating medication reconciliation with Eclipsys' Sunrise Enterprise electronic health record will enable a more consolidated view of a patient's prescription history, according to the vendors.

Hospitals currently using both the HCS medication reconciliation software and Sunrise Enterprise must click on a separate tab to view the HCS-provided retail prescription history and re-enter the information into the EHR. Integrating the systems through Helios will combine prescription history into one central location.
