The HIT Policy Committee will again consider the definition of "meaningful use" of electronic health records during a public meeting July 16 at the Park Hyatt Washington Hotel in the District of Columbia. The committee is an advisory body to the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology.

On July 14-15, the policy committee's certification/adoption workgroup will meet at the same site. The workgroup is developing recommendations for the full committee on issues related to certification of electronic health records, as well as health information extension centers and workforce training.

The HIT Standards Committee will meet July 21 at the Holiday Inn Washington Capital. Members will discuss certification issues. Details of the meetings are in notices published July 1 in the Federal Register, at gpoaccess.gov/fr/index.html.
