The Mayo Clinic has teamed with investors to launch Ambient Clinical Analytics, a new vendor that offers a bedside decision support platform for hospital intensive care, surgical and emergency departments.
Ambient Clinical Analytics sells a platform of technologies from Mayo that include a warning and response evaluation module that uses analytics to filter relevant data and best practices; patient management tools to provide real-time situational awareness; syndromic surveillance alerts for sepsis or other serious emerging conditions; and technology to view data on mobile devices. Initial products will focus on sepsis and ventilator-induced lung injury.
Partners in the venture with Mayo Clinic include start-up funder Rock Health and The Social+Capital Partnership, an organization that includes philanthropists, technology entrepreneurs and venture capitalists. Together, the organizations have provided $1.1 million in seed funding to Ambient Clinical Analytics, which will be exhibiting at HIMSS14 in Orlando.
