U-M to Wirelessly Track Drug Boxes

HDM Breaking News, December 11, 2007

The University of Michigan Health System will implement a wireless location management information system to track pharmacy supplies across its 913-bed Ann Arbor campus.

The delivery system will use the PanGo software of InnerWireless Inc., Richardson, Texas, running on an existing network from Cisco Systems Inc., San Jose, Calif. The software will assist its pharmacy department in managing the location and supply of hundreds of pharmacy boxes, which often are placed on mobile carts.

The software enables monitoring of box locations, replenishment of supplies in the boxes and replacement of soon-to-expire medications. More information is available at innerwireless.com and med.umich.edu.
