Many RECs, federally funded under the HITECH Act, are picking vendor partners that have agreed to sell products and services at reduced prices, often with standard contract provisions. The goal is to speed the vendor selection process by having RECs conduct initial due diligence work and give providers a list of finalists from which to make their EHR selection.

HITEC-LA's negotiated contracts with vendors cover 40 contractual terms, including a 10 percent to 30 percent discount with three-year price lock and upgrades included, payments tied to go-live, continuous meaningful use certification, penalty-free contract termination with 90 days notice, and provider ownership of data and receipt of data extracts if a contract is cancelled, among other terms.

Other preferred EHR vendors at HITEC-LA include Office Ally, eClinicalWorks, athenahealth, GE Healthcare and Greenway. More information is available at hitecla.org.
