An updated version of a laboratory information system from Opus Healthcare Solutions Inc., Austin, Tex., provides access to test results via smart phones or PDAs using a cell phone network or hospital Wi-Fi connection.

The enhanced version of OpusLaboratorySuite enables clinicians to scroll through results and view data from a variety of screens or information sets, says Fred Beck, president of Opus. The updated suite, which can be integrated with most hospital information systems, also includes rules-based reporting, quality control prompts and call management.

Hospitals can obtain the suite via the application service provider computing model or through a conventional license.
