Kettering Health Reporting Lab Results Via HIE To State Health Dept.

Kettering Health, a seven-hospital system headquartered in Dayton, Ohio, is now sending reportable lab results for eight facilities directly to the Ohio Department of Health (ODH) via the Cincinnati-based health information exchange, HealthBridge.

The automated process allows the state to have timely access to lab results, according to HealthBridge.

"By receiving lab results daily, ODH can track any potential clusters or outbreaks of disease and respond quickly to minimize spreading to others," the organization said in a statement announcing the new capability. "Further, it reduces costs overall, since the state does not have to manage and maintain feeds from individual hospitals; rather, multiple hospitals can send their results through one connection."
