Rockville, Md.-based DrFirst has enabled its electronic prescribing technology to run on the Apple iPhone.

The vendor's RcopiaMini application has been formatted for the screen size of the device, which was released earlier this year. The Web-based system can run via a Wi-Fi connection or via the wireless carrier connection the iPhone uses.

The iPhone-based software offers the same features as the vendor's original Rcopia system, including eligibility, formulary, medication history and interaction checking, as well as the ability to electronically send new and renewal prescriptions to a patient's pharmacy and receive dosing instructions. The software is available free for current Rcopia users.
