Crittenden Regional Hospital in West Memphis, Ark., will deploy its first intranet to better share information with employees.

The 132-bed facility with 650 full-time employees will use the intranet technology of HospitalPortal.Net, Rolling Meadows, Ill. The site will offer a single, secure source for dissemination of policies and procedures, news, events scheduling and continuing education, says Joseph Royal, director of management information systems at Crittenden. He estimates the intranet will eliminate $40,000 in spending on paper each year.

The hospital’s 50 departments will be able to update their own sites on the intranet without relying on the information technology staff. Details are available at hospitalportal.net.
