Physician-owned Emergent Medical Associates has acquired a majority interest in Language Access Network LLC, a vendor of real-time, on-demand language interpretation services for hospitals. Acquisition terms were not disclosed.

Los Angeles-based Emergent Medical manages 15 emergency departments in California, as well as staffing them with physicians.

Language Access Network was a publicly owned company until a $1.25 million management buyout took it private in January. The company offers interpretation services in more than 150 languages.
