Emergency department information systems vendor MEDHOST Inc. has introduced integration tools to enable the pre-population of hospital information systems with ER data.
This means information recorded in ER, such as demographics, immunizations, medications, allergies, medical history, drug/tobacco/alcohol use, and initial admission assessment can move to the other hospital systems, serve as baseline information in those systems, and eliminate the need for data reentry, according to the Addison, Texas-based vendor.
Early users of the integration technology include Stanly Memorial Hospital in Albemarle, N.C., and Conway (S.C.) Medical Center. Both use hospital information systems from Medical Information Technology Inc., Westwood, Mass.
