St. Joseph Health System in Orange, Calif., will implement in eight hospitals software to track and prevent hospital-acquired infections and optimize antibiotic use.
The delivery system will use the SafetySurveillor application from Premier Inc., a San Diego-based provider alliance, I.T. vendor and group purchasing organization.
The software analyzes clinical data from various information systems, looking for trends that indicate a patient or patients could be developing an infection. When problems are detected, alerts are automatically sent to appropriate personnel. The application also supports state and local reporting requirements and benchmark analysis.
Hospitals getting SafetySurveillor are: Petaluma Valley Hospital in Petaluma; Queen of the Valley Medical Center in Napa; Redwood Memorial Hospital in Fortuna; St. Joseph Hospital in Eureka; Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital; St. Jude Medical Center in Fullerton; St. Mary Medical Center in Apple Valley; and St. Joseph Hospital in Orange.
The delivery system already uses Premiers Clinical Advisor clinical efficiency and performance benchmarking software. More information is available at premierinc.com and stjhs.org.
