Medications supplier Hospira Inc. has acquired TheraDoc Inc., which sells hospital surveillance systems, for an undisclosed price.
Lake Forest, Ill.-based Hospira sells medication management systems, infusion systems, syringes and injectable pharmaceuticals, among other products.
TheraDoc sells the Infection Control Assistant software that collects and analyzes patient data from multiple information systems. Data that indicates a patient may be developing an infection triggers alerts to the appropriate clinicians caring for the patient. The vendor's Clinical Alerts Assistant application looks for other possible emerging complications and acts as a "second look" for medication management.
TheraDoc's Antibiotic Assistant software uses data culled from multiple information systems to make specific recommendations for antibiotic treatments, tests and referrals based on individual patient profiles. The software also helps pinpoint infectious agents that are becoming resistant to certain antibiotics.
