Imprivata Targets Health With New Unit

Imprivata Inc., a vendor of single-sign-on and user authentication software serving multiple industries, has launched a Global Healthcare Division.

The Lexington, Mass.-based company has selected a senior executive to lead the division, but is not yet making the name public. Imprivata has named veteran industry consultant Barry Chaiken, M.D, as chief medical officer.

Chaiken presently is chief medical information officer at consulting firm Symphony Corp. and chief medical officer at DocsNetwork Ltd., also a consultancy. He further is on the health care advisory boards of disease recognition software vendor Logical Images Inc. and consulting firm Evolvent Technologies Inc.

Chaiken also serves as a board member and chair-elect of the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society. From May 2005 to January 2008, he was associate chief medical officer at consulting firm BearingPoint. Earlier, he served as vice president of medical affairs at McKesson Corp. for more than six years. More information is available at imprivata.com.
