Image Movement of Montana, a consortium of 30 health care facilities in the state, will implement Web-based software for secure sharing of radiology images and reports.
The consortium will use the eMix (Electronic Medical Information Exchange) application of DR Systems Inc., a San Diego-based vendor of radiology information systems and picture archiving and communication systems.
The consortium formed after a survey by the Montana Hospital Association found disparate organizations had difficulty sharing images. Some institutions were spending up to $30,000 a year to mail CDs and films.
Implementing the eMix application initially will occur this month at Kalispell Regional Medical Center, Great Falls Clinic and St. Luke Community Healthcare in Ronan. Proponents expect to complete rollout to all member facilities in early 2010.
