The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services will use ICD-10 code translation software from 3M Health Information Systems, and has licensed the application for use by fiscal intermediaries, carriers and Medicare Administrative Contractors.

The goal is to have accurate and consistent translations from ICD-9 to ICD-10 in all CMS systems. The Web-based translator is supports code conversion of large, complex information systems and creation of customized code mappings for clinical and business needs in delivery systems and standalone community hospitals, according to the vendor.

Valued at $440,000, the contract is solely for the software license and associated training, and does not include ongoing conversion support. More information is available at 3mhis.com/icd10.
