A free Web seminar on May 7 will feature two provider organizations discussing how they are using health information technology under the federally sponsored Million Hearts program to help reduce patients’ blood pressure and cholesterol levels.

The Office of the National Coordinator for HIT is sponsoring the 90-minute seminar. Presenters include Peter Basch, M.D., medical director of ambulatory EHR and health I.T. policy at MedStar Health; Nicholas Yphantides, M.D., chief medical officer at the San Diego County Health & Human Services Agency; Farzad Mostashari, M.D., national coordinator for HIT; and Janet Wright, M.D., executive director of Million Hearts.

The Million Hearts initiative seeks to prevent one million heart attacks and strokes by 2017. Registration for the Web seminar is available here.
