HMS Launches Online Payments

Community hospital software vendor Healthcare Management Systems Inc. has introduced an online bill payment Web portal application.

The portal is accessible via a link on a hospital's Web site. The portal enables a patient to view bills, set up recurring payments or make a one-time electronic checking or credit card payment, according to the Nashville, Tenn.-based company. Payments entered via the portal are automatically updated in the HMS patient accounting software.

Thayer County Health Services, a critical access hospital in Hebron, Neb., piloted the online payment services. Automated posting means the payments show up in day-end reports, increasing efficiency, says Michael Pracheil, CFO.

More information is available at hmstn.com and thayercountyhealth.com.
