Kern Medical Center in Bakersfield, Calif., will implement by the end of 2010 the OpenVista electronic health record software of Medsphere Corp., Carlsbad, Calif.
The 222-bed hospital selected the application believing no other system could be implemented fast enough to qualify for first-year incentive payments in 2011 from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, says Paul Hensler, CIO. The hospital expects incentives will pay for the system in total.
