HIPAA Summit Well-Timed with Expected Rules

The Sixth National HIPAA Summit West in San Francisco, Oct. 10-12, will feature dozens of sessions on the HIPAA privacy, security and breach notification rules, shortly after new final rules are expected to be out.

Farzad Mostashari, M.D., national coordinator for health information technology, in June said the final rules should be issued by the end of summer.

Sessions will cover regulatory changes, privacy and security audits, incident response readiness, new EDI transactions and operating rules, the convergence of HIPAA and HITECH, and updates from federal officials. More information and the agenda are available at hipaasummit.com.
