The Workgroup for Electronic Data Interchange will host a free, four-hour Web seminar on provisions of the recently published HIPAA omnibus rule, covering changes to the privacy, security, breach notification and enforcement rules, as well as the Genetic Information Non-Discrimination Act.

The seminar is scheduled at Noon Eastern on Feb. 15. Sessions include a brief overview, then 30-minute presentations covering such provisions as business associates, enforcement, uses and disclosures, individual rights, breach and risk assessment, and GINA.

Speakers include Doreen Espinoza, chief development and implementation officer at the Utah Health Information Network; Lola Jordan, president at Medicare claim processor Companion Data Services; Joseph McClure, security counsel at Siemens Medical Solutions; health security consultant Lesley Berkeyheiser; and health attorneys Ruth Carr, Susan Miller and Rebecca Williams.

While the event is free for all stakeholders, WEDI is seeking sponsorship. More information, including registration, is available here.
