The ANSI ASC X12 Accredited Standards Committee and the Committee on Operating Rules for Information Exchange, known as CORE, will host a Web seminar on Nov. 28 to explain the reform law-mandated eligibility and claim status operating rules, which have a compliance date of Jan. 1, 2013.

The two operating rules are the first in a series being adopted between 2013 and 2016 to substantially standardize the electronic HIPAA financial and administrative transactions. ASC X12 is developer of the HIPAA transactions and CORE creates the operating rules.

The seminar will walk through the eligibility and claim status rules, as well as best practices to implement them. Presenters include Margaret Weiker, chair of the ASC X12 insurance subcommittee; Donna Campbell, co-chair of the ASC X12N workgroup on health care eligibility; Merri-Lee Stine, co-chair of a CORE subgroup; and Robert Bowman, CORE manager.
