Industry software veteran Nancy Ham is the new CEO of the Medicity health information exchange unit of Aetna. She succeeds Brent Dover, who HIStalk reports will become president of data warehouse/analytics firm Health Catalyst.

Ham most recently served as president and CEO at analytics vendor MedVentive, which serves insurers and accountable care organizations. She also has served for two decades in senior roles at Sentillion, ProxyMed, ActaMed and Healtheon/WebMD.

Aetna is one of three major commercial insurers--including UnitedHealth Group and Humana--to own health information exchange vendors as they transition to new care delivery and reimbursement methods, and seek new tools and services to better coordinate with providers and covered members. Medicity serves more than 800 hospitals and 250,000 physicians through its public and private HIEs.
