Kansas State HIE Reaches another Milestone

The Kansas Health Information Network, the statewide health information exchange, has passed immunization records from a community health center to the state’s immunization registry during a pilot program.

The data exchange will reduce manual data entry into the immunization registry for the Community Health Center of Southeast Kansas, which provides more than 15,000 annual immunizations. It also represents one of several milestones for KHIN in recent months.

The HIE has exchanged continuity of care documents among providers in the state, has exchanged data between the Nebraska and Missouri state HIEs using Direct Project protocols for secure messaging, and has linked to the federal BioSense surveillance network to transmit syndromic data from emergency departments.

Informatics Corporation of America is the core HIE platform vendor for KHIN.
