HealthVault Expands to Germany
Germany-based Siemens AG, through its IT Solutions and Services division, has licensed Microsoft HealthVault and will be the exclusive operator of the online consumer health information management platform in Germany.
Germany-based Siemens AG, through its IT Solutions and Services division, has licensed Microsoft HealthVault and will be the exclusive operator of the online consumer health information management platform in Germany.
Under the license agreement, terms of which were not disclosed, Siemens will market the HealthVault platform to developers, application vendors, device manufacturers and consumers. The company will host all stored health information in secure data centers in Germany.
Redmond, Wash.-based Microsoft launched HealthVault in the United States in 2007. The service expanded to Canada in May 2009 through a license agreement with Toronto-based TELUS, a telecommunications firm. Germany is HealthVault's entrance into the European market.
