HealthBridge, a health information exchange serving the greater Cincinnati region, will use the Mirth Meaningful Use Exchange platform from Mirth Corp. as the core of its next generation interoperability infrastructure.

Irvine, Calif.-based Mirth was one of several firms that developed, under a federal government contract, the open source CONNECT interoperability software to ease connecting to the emerging national health information network.

CONNECT incorporates all of the standards and requirements outlined for the NHIN to enable organizations to more quickly connect to NHIN-enabled exchanges. Using the Mirth technology will enable HealthBridge to extend its reach and enable health information exchange with participating organizations across the nation, says Robert Steffel, CEO at HealthBridge.
