Hospital Pediatric Videos in Works

Bethesda, Md.-based GetWellNetwork Inc. and Wilmington, Del.-based KidsHealth will jointly develop Web-based videos about pediatric health.

The new videos are being designed to help hospitals engage patients and their families in their health care, as well as address patient safety goals and requirements from the Joint Commission for the Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations. They only will be available to hospitals that use GetWellNetwork's PatientLife communication system.

The vendor's technology enables hospitals to use televisions in patient rooms to show health care information videos, among other functionalities. Patients use a wireless keyboard, touchscreen or handheld device to run the system.

The first jointly developed video application will focus on pediatric asthma. It will feature information on treatment and management, prevention measures, lifestyle impact and other resources for families. For more information, go to
