Ambulatory billing and software vendor athenahealth and patient satisfaction measurement vendor Press Ganey have announced new contracts with large provider organizations.

Emergency Medicine Physicians of Canton, Ohio, with more than 800 ED physicians treating 3 million patients annually across the nation, will implement athenahealth’s practice management and patient and provider communications software. The group practice took the step after tripling in size during the past decade, says CEO Dominic Bagnoli.

Cincinnati-based Catholic Health Partners, with 24 hospitals and other facilities serving portions of Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana, will use patient satisfaction surveys from Press Ganey to better analyze where improvements can be made. Among other surveys, the organization will conduct CG-CAHPS surveys, developed by the federal Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality to measure satisfaction in physician offices. The CG-CAHPS surveys--part of a suite of CAHPS surveys measuring satisfaction in different types of health care organizations--are done regionally and in some states but are not yet a national requirement. Medicare, however, uses them in its accountable care organization programs.
