Government information technology vendor ManTech International Corp. is expanding its footprint in health care with the acquisition of contractor ALTA Systems Inc. of Fairfax, Va. Terms of the cash transaction were not disclosed.

ManTech, also in Fairfax, in January 2012 bought Herndon, Va.-based Evolvent Technologies Inc., which provides EHR/PHR deployment, integration and maintenance; data warehouse and analytics; telemedicine; medical imaging systems implementation; and I.T. security services to the Departments of Defense, Veterans Affairs and Health and Human Services.

Now, it adds ALTA, which provides capital planning and investment control, system design, development and operation; and fraud detection and statistical analysis services to government and private organizations. ALTA also has a contract with the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services to provide up to $4 billion in services through May 2018.
