* Physician software vendor ADP AdvancedMD has entered the outsourced billing arena by acquiring PhyLogic Healthcare. Acceleration of regulatory compliance, including transitioning to ICD-10 codes, is increasing the number of medical practices outsourcing claims management, says Raul Villar, president of ADP AdvancedMD. Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
* Rush-Copley Medical Center, a 210-bed facility in Aurora, Ill., will implement the health information exchange platform of Medicity to enable affiliated physicians to access laboratory results and other patient information.
* Hospital information systems vendor Keane will start doing business under the name NTT DATA, which is the name of its Japanese parent corporation, a $14 billion global information services firm operating in multiple industries.
* Emergency department information systems vendor T-Systems Inc. has introduced Care Continuity, a Web tool to enable physicians to receive information on their patients treated in a hospital’s ER. Physicians can receive alerts when a patient registers in the emergency department, and is admitted or discharged, as well as getting a copy of the ER record. If a patient does not have a primary care physician, the system will assign the patient to a participating physician. If that physician doesn’t accept the patient, the system will assign the patient to the next physician until accepted.
