The Nashville, Tenn.-based company is piloting the hData application developed by The MITRE Corp., McLean, Va. Emdeon sells revenue cycle management software and operates the nation's largest claims clearinghouse. It also electronically transmits lab orders/results and electronic prescriptions via its EDI network.
The goal of the pilot is to study the ease of mapping and exchanging clinical data among disparate system using the hData format, which could ease compliance with some HITECH Act meaningful use requirements. The companies initially have exchanged de-identified lab orders and results, and displayed the information through a Web portal.
The vendors will share with the industry their findings of using hData to exchange clinical information. More information is available at projecthdata.org.
