Imprivata Inc. has integrated its OneSign single-sign-on and user authentication software into the virtual desktop technology of VMware Inc., Palo Alto, Calif.

The virtual desktop means a clinician can log into and use "shared" desktop computers on a network, rather than hunting for open, dedicated desktops in particular units of a facility.

Integrating the virtual environment with OneSign from Lexington, Mass.-based Imprivata will enable clinicians to use the desktops where they are and access the information systems they need with one sign-in and authentication via a fingerprint scan or proximity card.

More information is available at imprivata.com and vmware.com.
