The HIT Policy Committee's meaningful use workgroup will meet Sept. 22 to develop draft recommendations for Stage 2 meaningful use criteria.

Meanwhile, the committee's governance workgroup will meet Sept. 28 to continue its work to draft recommendations on the scope and process of governance for the nationwide health information network. The recommendations will include measures to ensure accountability and oversight.

The meaningful use workgroup has released a timetable for its work during the next year. It expects to present draft recommendations to the full committee on Oct. 20 and receive industry input during November and December via a request for information.

The workgroup will monitor submission of Stage 1 applications for incentive payments during the first half of 2011. It will draft and submit final recommendations to the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology in the second quarter of 2011.
