The federally funded NHIN a year ago transitioned to the public-private eHealth Exchange. The goal of eHealth Exchange is to move nationwide health information exchange past pilot programs that tested common specifications for exchange. Forty entities currently participate in eHealth Exchange, including federal and state agencies, Beacon Communities, software vendors and health care systems.

Healtheway will support the effort by exploring new technology opportunities and providing recommendations to the eHealth Exchange board. More information is available at healthewayinc.org.

Greenway recently agreed to be acquired by software vendor Vitera Healthcare Solutions for about $644 million, with the combined companies operating under the Greenway name.
