The Center of Inherited Disease Research at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore has implemented clustered data storage technology to house its growing volume of genotyping data.
The center, serving 13 National Institutes of Health through a federal grant, is using the CAStor software of Caringo Inc., Austin, Texas. The 31-node cluster, which started in March with 30 terabytes of storage capacity, now has 82 terabytes in use and 104 terabytes of available capacity. The center generates at least one terabyte daily of new data.
The storage software requires no provisioning or downtime to add nodes and storage capacity in real time, according to the vendor. More information is available at caringo.com.
